The Village of Marblehead, Ohio - The weekend-long grand opening of the Bay Point Marina and Resort sales center was, as Mayor Jackie Bird termed it, "phenomenal new beginning."Joining Mayor Bird for the ribbon cutting were City Councilwoman Angie Kukay, and John Murphy, partner of Bay Shore Land Partners, the owner and developer of Bay Point Marina and Resort.

And it was a very busy weekend for Tomi Johnson and her sales associates from Real Living Realty One as they welcomed 500-plus prospective buyers to the grand opening of the Bay Point sales center last Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's events also included an elaborate fireworks display on the Lake Erie side beach as part of the celebration and much to the delight of Bay Point members and their guests.

"This kind of response is testimony to what the members of Bay Point have been telling us for a long time," commented John Murphy. "Given the opportunity to have fee-simple or condominium ownership of property in Bay Point is very exciting. We're very proud of the team we put together to offer the home sites, cottages, townhomes, the best marina on Lake Erie and an array of amenities now available and in development. The sales center, located at the entrance to the development, officially opened at Saturday at 9:00 a.m. and remained open until 6:00 p.m. While Sunday's hours were also planned from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., prospective buyers were there until 7:30 p.m., according to Jamie Powers of Premier Homes. "In my 21 years of experience, I never seen or been a part of a launch that's had this kind of excitement and response," stated Powers. "There were certainly a lot of local people on hand but there were also many from Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, Toledo and Flint."

Bay Point members, prospective buyers and residential real estate brokers toured the custom designed and appointed sales center. The center features a detailed scale model of the resort, renderings of Sunset Cove, the well-appointed townhomes, condominiums and cottages, as well as the site plan for Bay Point Shores, waterfront single-family custom home sites of which a limited number are still available.

Master planned by award-winning architectural firm Visbeen Associates of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Bay Point Marina and Resort includes spacious single-family residences, beautiful condominiums and luxurious townhouses.

"Phase I will be comprised of 85 units and 33 lots," according to Brooke Brown, manager of Bay Point Marina and Resort. "The completed development is projected to consist of about 565 attached and detached year-round units and ancillary resort-style amenities to be built in phases over the next six to eight years. The marina contains 730 slips and will accommodate boats up to 53 feet in length, making it one of the largest privately owned marinas in the Great Lakes. An upgraded floating dock system with electrical and water supply is in place making the facility state-of-the-art."

In addition to the marina, the property currently includes a yacht club, a beach store, a 9-hole executive golf course, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, walking paths, picnic areas, and a playground.
